The recreation building for the projects and surrounding neighborhood has been transformed and expanded into a community gathering space, offering a necessary focus for a growing teen population.

  • A terrazzo stair accesses the lobby space and allows daylight to penetrate the lower level.
  • A skylight has been mounted behind a curved partition.
  • The recreation space has been renovated and the stage re-rigged.
  • A large opening in the rear and outdoor seating was added to encourage outdoor performances in good weather.
  • The lower level was rebuilt to accommodate an arts and craft area, a dining facility, a dance studio, and a library.
  • A classroom accommodates a new Housing Authority initiative to bring computers to economically depressed neighborhood families.
