Alastair Elliott

Alastair joined Silman in 1995 and since 2014, he has led the firm as Principal and is now Director of Operations. In addition to his responsibilities as Director of Operations, he has overseen a broad range of project types for cultural and educational institutions, places of worship, and hospitality. His experience has included designing for renovation, adaptive reuse, and new construction.

Alastair has worked to continually evaluate and improve the firm’s use of technology and has played a key role in implementing the infrastructure necessary for the firm’s continuous growth. He oversees operations across all offices and is closely involved with decision making regarding IT, knowledge management, human resources, and insurance.

Alastair is a Lecturer in Architecture at Yale School of Architecture. He was previously an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Architecture at Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation, and has been a guest lecturer and studio critic at Cornell University College of Architecture Art and Planning and Parsons, The New School for Design. Alastair is active in industry organizations and is a past President of the Structural Engineers Association of New York (SEAoNY). Alastair was also a member of the 2014 New York City Building Code revision committee. He currently serves on the Board of Directors and Treasurer for the Design Trust for Public Space.
