
Justin Den Herder joined Silman in 2007. As Principal, Justin is a thought leader focused on design innovation. As co-leader of a studio, he oversees new construction, renovation, and historic preservation projects of varying scales and materials.
A few of Justin’s recently completed projects include Hunters Point Community Library in Queens, the adaptive reuse of Empire Stores in Brooklyn, and the New York Public Library Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library. A few in-progress projects that he is involved with include the extension to the Bronx Museum of the Arts, a mass timber adaptive reuse project at Amherst College, and the Ostrava Concert Hall in the Czech Republic.
Justin was the Editor in Chief of SEAoNYCross Sections from 2014-2017 and has written articles published in Modern Steel Construction. He teaches structural engineering courses at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY.
