Kate Morrical Towne initially joined the Washington, DC, office as an engineer and CAD specialist in 2003. She worked on both new construction and renovation projects and was instrumental in leading the firm’s adoption of BIM in 2007. After leaving Silman to spend some time on Autodesk’s AutoCAD team, Kate returned as our in-house Digital Design Manager in 2012.
In Kate’s role as Digital Design Manager, she has developed an integrated approach to modeling, design, and documentation across multiple software platforms. She is involved with every level of BIM implementation firmwide, including in-house training and technical support, production of construction documents, and internal and external model coordination. Her role also encompasses research into new and emerging technologies to discover potential applications for improving and expanding the firm’s design and documentation workflows.
