We are pleased to announce that Silman has opened a fourth office in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Though Silman has provided structural engineering services for many Midwest projects over the years, the timing of this expansion positions the firm to better engage in the revitalization of neighboring Detroit.
Silman is on the design team, led by Quinn Evans Architects, that was recently chosen to complete the restoration and redevelopment of Detroit’s Michigan Central Station, a Beaux-Arts landmark that has fallen into disrepair since its closing in 1988. Other recent and ongoing projects in the Midwest include the new corporate headquarters for Kum & Go (Krause Gateway Center) with Renzo Piano Building Workshop, and the new Siebel Center for Design at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with Bohlin Cywinski Jackson (BCJ).
The Ann Arbor office will be run by Managing Principal and President Joe Tortorella, where he will be joined by Jenna Bresler, formerly of the Silman Boston office. We are excited to grow and establish this office while maintaining the creative and collaborative spirit that has defined Silman since its inception in 1966.
