Silman projects recognized in Fast Company World Changing Ideas Awards

Finalist: Isla Intersections
Constructed of stacked steel shipping containers, this new affordable housing complex in south Los Angeles will also include community gardens and job training centers.

Honorable Mention: Nanotronics Production Center
This adaptive reuse project, one of several that Silman has been involved with at Brooklyn Navy Yard in recent years, repurposed a historic shipbuilding facility to create a flagship manufacturing center and offices for a nanotechnology startup. A new mezzanine level within the building utilizes cross-laminated timber (CLT) bearing walls and decking.

Honorable Mention: Mount Sinai Kyabirwa Surgical Facility
The rooftop solar array atop this new ambulatory surgical facility provides both self-sufficient power and shade. The project also won an AIA New York Design Award.
