The National Trust for Historic Preservation invites applications for the 2021-2022 Silman Fellow for Preservation Engineering. This 12-month fellowship provides a recent graduate with the opportunity to work on various restoration, rehabilitation, and preservation projects at the Trust’s 27 sites nationwide and work at Silman as a structural engineer. Projects at the Trust may involve master planning, condition assessments, consultant team selection, technical research, materials conservation methods, preventive and corrective maintenance, contract documents, bidding and negotiation practices, contractor selection, job site administration, and distribution of grant funds.
The Silman Fellow is required to complete a deliverable for the benefit to the field of historic preservation that is suitable for presentation and/or publication. Upon successful completion of the Fellowship, the Fellow will continue as a full-time Silman employee.
