Lycée Français de New York

New York, NY

This private K-12 school has been at its current location on Manhattan’s Upper East Side since 2003. Seeking to expand its facilities, the school acquired a 5-story former tenement building at 1416 York Avenue.

Silman’s work on the building’s extensive renovation included a 2-story vertical addition and a 2-story rear annex that serves as a connector to the adjacent main structure located along East 75th Street. Silman also excavated the lowest level to create a full height floor and removed interior bearing partitions at a significant number of locations.
