Silman’s scope of work also included a detached garage and guest house, large site retaining walls, and custom cantilevered concrete site stairs.

This contemporary single-family residence is nestled near a hilltop pasture in upstate New York, the site of a former dairy farm. The primarily wood-framed house and garage utilizes steel framing to help support a 150’-long-by-4’-wide steel canopy that cantilevers off of the south side of the house. Custom thermal break details ensure that the large thermal mass of the canopy does not effect home’s occupants.
