This new two-story ambulatory treatment facility is one of several recent projects that have been designed to meet the growing needs of MSK’s patient and research programs in the areas surrounding New York City. The LEED Silver certified building provides comprehensive oncology services as well as specialized services.
Silman used steel framing and concrete-on-metal-deck slabs to provide a lightweight and structurally efficient building superstructure. This flexible system allowed for the steel beam depth to be increased to allow for larger MEP web openings. Deeper beams also aided in providing better vibration resistance. Each building floor was assigned unique vibration criterion based on client needs and equipment sensitivity.
The building features three new LINAC vaults for radiation therapy with capacity for one additional future vault. There are also two new MRIs and a PET/CT at the ground floor.
