This new retreat’s main building is a 3,200 sf wood-framed structure with cantilevering steel framing at the perimeter to support longer spaces. Concealed within the hillside below, a 3,000 sf spa features saunas, pools, and a green roof. Exposed concrete foundation elements within the sauna contrast with the wood finishes.
The complex’s two dozen modular cabins, roughly 375 sf each, are each equipped with outdoor decks and operable glazing. The wood structures were manufactured off site and craned into place on piers to minimize ecological disturbances. The cedar-clad main building and guest cabins occupy only five of the property’s 50 acres.
